Need to draw up proper accounts for first 2 years of trading, and submit a tax return for 09/10. Have registered with HMRC as self-employed, and have secured low-earnings exemption from self-employed NI contribs, but yet to submit a tax return or any accounts. I have full details of all income and expenditure, including receipts etc, but not clear on what expenses I can claim etc. and whether losses can be offset against PAYE tax paid. Please note - I am not looking for an online service; I want someone local I can sit down with face-to-face.

Started my business in 2008, selling framed photographic prints. Very few sales - no profits. Branched out into teaching photography and now have regular income. The business is running in my spare time, alongside my full-time PAYE employment.
